TOBIAS TSUMA ~ Metal work (employed)
29 years old Tobias Tsuma, a 7th born in a family of 8 (four girls and four boys) was born and brought up from a rural home in Kaloleni where his parents still live. Tsuma dropped out of secondary school while in form two due to lack of school fees. Life was unmanageable at home and he came to stay with his brother in Mombasa in 2002 in search for some form of employment. While staying with his brother, he heard of MDP through a friend who also trained at the institution.
By the help of his brother, he joined MDP in the year 2003 for one year and trained in Metal work. He then went for a three months attachment at Kensands Engineering, and was later employed on casual terms from 2004 to 2006 at the same place.
Since 2007, Tobias has been working at Bombolulu Workshop (APDK) where he is earning Kshs. 771 per day.
Tobias appreciates the programs offered at MDP. “I am grateful to MDP for changing my life and helping me to become the person I am now”. “For me MDP was a great introduction to life, but my real life began at my workplace”. “My wish is for MDP to include mig welding in the metal work course.
Tobias is now married and a proud father of a four months baby boy. He is Grateful for the skills acquired at MDP as this is what helps him manage his life.
